The Real Salt Lake AZ competitive program includes each age group beginning with U7 through U19, boys and girls. Due to the available talent and demand of the program, there may be multiple teams in each age group.
The emphasis in the RSL-AZ program is on player development and the development of the whole team. While winning is important, our main focus is on development. Through this development, we've been able to build one of the strongest, deepest, and largest clubs in Arizona. At the top level, we consistently have at least one team in every one of the top 24 divisions in the U7-U19 boys and girls age groups.
Players are introduced to a high level of play and coaching with training twice a week plus an optional futsal for U7-U10, training twice a week plus one futsal session for U11-U12, training three times per week for U13-19 with the top teams also having a speed & conditioning session.
Real Salt Lake AZ U7-U10 teams play in the ASA Academy formatted league. The ASA Academy league consists of teams from other soccer clubs throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. These teams also play in tournaments.
Real Salt Lake AZ U11-U19 teams play in the competitive APL (Arizona Premier League), ASL (Arizona State League), or depending on the teams level the OL (Open League). These leagues have scheduled games against teams from other soccer clubs throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and even beyond. In addition, some of our top U12-U19 play in the regional FWRL DPL (Desert Premier League) against clubs in the US western region or the US National League against teams from all over the country. These teams also play in a number of tournaments throughout the state and may go out of state as well. At the end of the year (April-May), many of these teams participate in the State Cup or the Presidents Cup Tournament and have a chance to play in the Far West Regionals and the National Championships.
RSL-AZ PHILOSOPHY:
The RSL-AZ program is dedicated to developing top-rated soccer players at the highest levels of competition, and to prepare individual players for high school, collegiate, and professional competition. To accomplish these goals, we have developed a style of play that runs throughout all the teams and is reached by developing "Complete Players" in a "Total Soccer" concept. The team practices are a combination of a competitive and fun teaching environment, based on age-appropriate curriculum. These methods develop a players and teams ability to score goals, implement strategies, develop a competitive mentality, strengthen teamwork, and generate a passion for the game.
