The RSL-AZ Yuma has started to offer Skills Training Sessions and we are so excited to welcome you!  Please read about the program below and instructions on how to register!

The RSL-AZ Yuma Skills Training Sessions consists of 2 weeks of Development Training meeting twice a week.

There is a $50 registration fee which will cover the club insurance for the player and a RSL-AZ Yuma Practice shirts.  The fee assists with covering field costs, lights, equipment and education.  Training sessions will take place twice a week for 45 - 50 minutes of technical training.  

The concept and purpose of the Skills Training is to develop a soccer player with a solid foundation and to prepare them for competitive play.  Coaches will work with players to establish sound technical skills which will include: ball handling skills, building a touch, body coordination, balance, passing technique and concept, teamwork (selflessness), following directions / willingness to learn, and to enjoy the game.

In addition to soccer skills, our Academy will encourage life skills of responsibility, punctuality, self-confidence, working with others, sharing, and benefits of physical activity.

Every session, players will need to provide motivation, willingness to learn, attendance, be punctual, and wear/bring the proper gear (size 4 ball, navy athletic shorts, navy soccer socks, shin guards, soccer cleats).

Each session will breakdown into 20-25 minutes of technical ball handling skill training (or area of concentration as directed by the Coach) & 15-20 minutes of ‘playing games’ with the ball (or topic of the day). Parents will need to be on time dropping off and picking up their player. This is very important as Coaches have other teams they are responsible for in addition to their contribution to the Academy Program. Every Coach is excited about the Academy and the great opportunity for growth it offers the players!
