“…to care about each other as teammates and as human beings, to understand they may have to sacrifice their own needs/wants for the better of the team, to be supportive even if their name wasn't called upon for a game or on a day, and to play for each other. “
- Tiffany Roberts, Girls Academy Director
Every player within the club is sacrificing parts of their life to commit to the sport and their development. This is happening across all levels of the club no matter what league a player is participating in. Regardless of level, we expect a player's commitment to encompass the following:
1. They commit to themselves--to put in the work, to stay positive, to work hard, to bring energy every day, to see the whole picture and to not make emotional reactions, and to appreciate the process.
2. They commit to their team- to treat everyone with respect, to care about each other as teammates and as human beings, to understand they may have to sacrifice their own needs/wants for the better of the team, to be supportive even if their name wasn't called upon for a game or on a day, and to play for each other.
3. They commit to their club- trust their leadership, be open to change, understand that no team or person is above the club, and want the best for all involved.
In order for the club, team, and individual to achieve great things, they all need to be working within the same framework and towards the same cause. We want every player to grow as a soccer player and a human being and for that to continue to take place, commitment on all levels within the club needs to continue.
This not only involves commitment from a soccer perspective but outside of soccer as well. We expect all of our players to be committed to the following: their academics, their relationship with their family and friends, and their community.
We expect all players to work diligently in school and to embrace challenges there as they do on the field. We expect all players to treat their family with the utmost respect and engage in their community as much as possible.
