We are very excited to welcome Juan Fresquez to RSL-AZ, as the new Youth Academy Director. Juan joins us from LAFC Academy staff where is presently the U13 Boys Head Coach. Prior to that, Juan was a member of the RSL family in Utah. Working with to the U13-U17 boys, he was responsible for nurturing and producing talent and developed some of RSL’s brightest young players. Coach Fresquez replaces longtime RSL AZ Youth Academy Director Boris Teoharaevic who has relocated to Hawaii. Boris was a great part of RSL AZ and we will miss him and thank him for his outstanding work and contribution to our club.
The Youth Academy program is a focus and point of pride for RSL AZ. The youth academy is programmed and implemented to enhance the developmental process of youth soccer players U6 to U12, and is a key pillar of players' development in our club. The curriculum is specifically designed to work with each individual player’s ability and goals, nurturing their skills in a fun yet challenging environment. The youth academy is a backbone of the success of RSL AZ and has developed the core of the successful MLS Next, Girls ECNL, Girls ECRL, Boys EA, and Arizona Advanced/State league programs RSL AZ offers.
Juan’s unique background will ensure the continued development of this important program, renewing our focus and commitment to the young players in our club.
“We are extremely excited and fortunate to have someone with the expertise and professionalism of Juan to come and join us at RSL AZ. We have known Juan for many years and his reputation as one of the top coaches in the United States is matched by his character and personality. We believe that the formative years a player has in the youth academy are critical to their success as a player. We must provide them the correct combination of coach, curriculum, environment, and competition. Juan has worked with players from youth to professional and that is vital to his ability to develop and direct all the young players in RSL AZ. We believe we need the best and most experienced director with the youngest players to ensure they get the right education and are on the correct pathway. We are excited about Juan and his ability to build on the good work done by Boris. Juan will help us make our RSL AZ youth academy and RSL AZ as a club better.” Brent Erwin, RSL-AZ Technical Director said.
“It is my pleasure to be back with RSL, a crest that has a special place in my heart. I had great moments with this organization and I'm very happy to be back.
The youth academy is a very important piece of the soccer puzzle, as a Director, I plan to work tirelessly to contribute to the success of RSL-AZ. We will adhere to our curriculum and make sure that we are bringing up players that will be ready for the next level. “ Added Juan Fresquez, RSL-AZ Youth Academy Director.
Juan has officially started his position and will be on the field immediately. Please join us in welcoming him to our family!
