RSL-AZ is proud to announce the appointment of Alex Rangel as the new MLS Next / EA Goalkeeper coach. Alex will oversee the training and development of goalkeepers competing in the RSL-AZ Elite Boys Platforms, both in the North and South regions.

Alex is a native of Tucson, Arizona, with an extensive soccer experience. He played as a young boy in the Tucson Soccer Academy, then as a collegiate at Pima Community College in Tucson and Columbia College in Missouri. After graduation he dedicated his career to coaching, and he is currently Goalkeeper Coach at Grand Canyon University. During this time Alex established Top Hand Goalkeeping, a personal training program designed specifically for goalkeepers.

“We are very excited to be adding a top quality GK Coach to work solely with our Elite Boys teams. Alex is an Arizona guy that is familiar with the talent pool and has gained great experience with FC Tucson over the years working with professionals. We believe he’s going add a hungry mentality to our already strong staff.” Mike Kraus, MLS Next Director said.

“We are very pleased to welcome Alex Rangel to RSL-AZ. I am certain that Alex will be an inspiring coach for Goalkeepers and a great ambassador for RSL-AZ. His commitment and passion for the game, along with his love for Arizona soccer, is a winning combination that will strengthen our goalkeeper program and support our efforts to ensure RSL-AZ players' success in their future." David Shafer, EA Director added.

“I am excited for the opportunity to join a great organization and create a positive environment among the goalkeepers in AZ. I will do my best to help everyone I coach be the best they can be.” Said Alex Rangel.

Alex will be starting his position immediately.  Please join us in welcoming him to RSL-AZ.
