PHOENIX (Monday, November 8th, 2021) -- Real Salt Lake clinched a playoff spot last night and RSL's Homegrown players had a hand in the winning goal.

Needing a win to clinch a spot, Homegrown defender Andrew Brody picked up a rebound in the box and lofted a cross to the other side of the pitch where Aaron, Herrera, another Homegrown defender, collected the ball. He crossed the ball back into the box and the Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper punched the ball out. Everton Luis fired a shot that was deflected high, Justin Meram then bicycled the ball to the back post where Damir Kreilach was waiting for an easy tap in.

This is now the third time RSL has been in the playoffs in four seasons. Since 2008, RSL has made the playoffs in 11 of 14 seasons.

Two other homegrown players also saw action, Tucson's Justen Glad, who appeared in 31 matches and had yet another banner year, and goalkeeper David Ochoa, who made four saves to preserve the shutout. On the bench were a pair of other Homegrown players. Tucson's Donny Toia and and Erik Holt.

RSL will now face the Seattle Sounders in the first round after the upcoming international break in late November.
