PHOENIX (Sunday, December 18, 2022) -- RSL AZ has named Cassidy Chriest as the RSL AZ North Youth Academy Director for the Boys & Girls U6-U10 age groups. Chriest takes over for Juan Fresquez who was named the RSL AZ MLS Next Director of Coaching.
Chriest's main responsibilities will be to continue RSL AZ's long standing excellence in the development of players while providing oversight of the entire program to assist coaches, teams, and RSL AZ families.
"Cassidy has been one of our top coaches in the academy for the last six years and has been integral in its growth and its successes," said Dan Soutar, RSL AZ North Girls Director. "Cassidy’s experience, personality and dynamic coaching and management style will bring great fresh energy to our academy. We are thankful for how far our academy has come and are excited to see it continue to flourish under Cassidy’s leadership."
Chriest joined RSL AZ in 2019 after playing collegiately at Ottawa University from 2017-2019 where she also earned her undergraduate in Business Administration and graduate in Leadership. Chriest has been coaching since 2011 and holds her USSF C License. She currently coaches RSL AZ North 15, 13, and 07 girls teams.
“I am thrilled to be leading our hard-working group of coaches and the impressive youth that are coming up through our program," said Chriest. "I take great pride in the way we develop players as they look forward to and prepare for the Elite and North platforms we have at RSL. Our pursuits are simple: Develop each player’s technical abilities, provide endless learning opportunities to maximize creativity and decision making, and build team environments in which they establish an unbreakable love for the game.”
