RSL AZ Announces Open Tryouts For UPSL Team

PHOENIX (Tuesday, February 28th, 2023) -- RSL AZ is excited to announce that its UPSL is returning for its second season in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL). which will kickoff in April.

Open tryouts have been announced for all interested players born in 2006 and older. The open tryouts will be held at Reach 11 - Field #1 on Sunday, March 5 from 5:30PM - 7:30PM. 

This year's team will be led by Carlos Juarez who currently coaches RSL AZ MLS Next Mesa 2010 and 2009 boys. Juarez has ore then 30 years coaching experience and was on the coaching staff for the U.S. Men's National Team from 2011-2016 as the Chief Scout. Additionally, he served as an assistant coach for Major League Soccer's Chivas USA and as the head coach for the Women's United Soccer Association's San Diego Spirit. 

"UPSL gives our current players a higher platform of matches and for our alumni it allows them to continue to compete for RSL AZ while getting high quality matches as they continue to climb the levels of pro soccer in our country," said Juarez.

Christopher Behler, who is the RSL AZ Elite Academy North Director, will also assist with coaching duties. Before RSL AZ, Behler was the head coach as San Jose State University from 2003-2015 and as a player he won the US Open Cup with San Jose Oaks Soccer Club. 

About the UPSL
The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 325 teams nationwide. The UPSL is the largest Pro Development League in North America. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated. UPSL teams are eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the league's affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
