Four RSL AZ MLS Next Players Invited To Utah To Train With Real Monarchs

PHOENIX (Friday, March 31st, 2023) -- Four RSL AZ players were invited by Real Salt Lake to travel to Utah to train for a week with Real Monarchs ahead of the Monarchs' MLS Next Pro match against the Tacoma Defiance on Sunday.

Heading up Salt Lake City are RSL AZ MLS Next players Leo Landeros, Cruzeiro Cruz, Noah Ervin, and Ben Erwin.

MLS Next Pro, launched in 2022, is the reserve side for Major League Soccer clubs. It allows players to get their first experience in a professional setting. 

These four players are just the latest to follow in the footsteps of previous RSL AZ players who have trained with the Real Monarchs including: Izzy Amparo, Luis Rivera (signed with Real Salt Lake in 2023), Julio Benitez (Signed with Real Salt Lake in 2022), Dominic Berrios

This incredible accomplishment by these four players further highlights the success the RSL AZ MLS Next program has had this past year. Check out these accomplishments below. 

  • Six RSL AZ players named to U.S. Soccer U-14 Regional Mini-Camp
  • Eight RSL AZ MLS Next players participated in a US Soccer Youth National Team Identification Center in November
  • Two former RSL AZ MLS Next players have signed with Major League Soccer's Real Salt Lake - Julio Benitez in January 2022 and Luis Rivera in January 2023.
  • At the MLS NEXT Fest this past December in California, RSL AZ MLS Next 09 Boys defeated Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City (watch goals here) and RSL AZ MLS Next 10 Boys defeated Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City and San Jose Earthquakes (watch goals here)
  • At the MLS Next Fest this past December in California, more than 40 college coaches attended and watched our RSL AZ MLS Next 06 Boys defeated Solar Chelsea 3-1: San Diego State, Seattle U, San Diego, GCU, Northwestern, Louisville, Gonzaga, Air Force, New Mexico, Brown, Duke, South Carolina, Wake Forest, Tufts, Notre Dame, Oregon State, Cornell, Georgetown, Army, UCLA, Ohio State, and much more.
