PHOENIX (Wednesday, November 29th, 2023) -- RSL AZ and Earnhardt Auto Centers are pleased to announce the October Spirit of Tex monthly awards, which honor the legacy and values of Tex Earnhardt, founder of Earnhardt Auto Centers.

Every month from September to May, RSL AZ and Earnhardt Auto Centers will recognize a Coach of the Month, Referee of the Month, Volunteer of the Month, Male Student-Athlete of the Month, and Female Student-Athlete of the Month. In May, all monthly winners will be eligible to be named the Spirit of Tex Coach of the Year, Spirit of Tex Volunteer of the Year, Spirit of Tex Referee of the Year, Spirit of Tex Male Student-Athlete of the Year, and Spirit of Tex Female Student-Athlete of the Year. Winners will also earn a scholarship.

Here are your October winners!

Spirit of Tex Male Student-Athlete of the Month - Alex 
Alex is a senior at Brophy High School and plays on the RSL AZ North Milos 05 Boys team. He originally joined RSL AZ when it was Sereno Soccer Club as a four-year-old. Off the field, Alex has a 3.97 GPA, is a member of the National Honors Society, and volunteers at the downtown location of St. Vincent de Paul. On the field, he is a creative player who is also the captain of this team. This year, he leads the team in goals and assists.

Spirit of Tex Female Student-Athlete of the Month - Caylee
Caylee is a 5th-grade student at Litchfield Elementary School and plays on the RSL AZ West Valley 13 Girls Martinez team. Off the field, she serves on the National Elementary Honors Society and swims for the city of Litchfield Park in addition to playing soccer. She participates as a volunteer in school events in local organizations. On the field, she is the captain of her team, a very skilled player, and is hungry to learn the game.

Spirit of Tex Coach of the Month - Vlastimir Davidovic
Vlastimir or as he is known as, Coach V, is always telling us to encourage our kids and respect refs when they make a decision. Players feel comfortable in training because he will give them the freedom to play their game while providing constructional feedback. Kids' safety is always a priority to him and as a parent it is very much appreciated.  

Spirit of Tex Volunteer of the Month - Amber Corr
Amber has been the team manager for the RSL AZ South 10 Boys W Molina team for the past three seasons. She is always going above and beyond to make sure the players always have what they need. 

Spirit of Tex Referee of the Month - Richard McCann
I got involved as a referee eight years ago with my son who wanted to start saving for a car (he was 14). He was also a player at that time, and I was “that dad” on the sideline. As the years passed, and I got to experience what it was like being the one in the middle of the field blowing (or not) the whistle, I learned so much about positioning and the importance of “advantage” and patience with calls, coaches, players, and spectators. I have been a part of over 1500 games (including High School) at all age and skill levels. I still get a little nervous before finals on Sundays, but I look forward to my next 1500 games!
