RSL AZ Curriculum - Week #4 Defending
 Collective Defending
Protect the Space Behind when the BC is NOT Framed

Who: GK, Defenders & Midfielders.

What: Properly protect the space behind the backline and in front of the GK to prevent opponent from safely progressing into this area.

Where: Zone 1 & Zone 2 but specifically the space between the GK & our Backline.

When: Moments when the opponent has opportunity to play behind our backline or when our attacking players are providing pressure and opponent chooses to play long.

Why: We want to prevent the opposition from forcing our players, especially our defenders, from having to FACE our own goal. The more often we can keep our backline between the ball and goal, the less chances our opponent will get.
