Every month from September to April, RSL AZ will be spotlighting teams throughout the state. Teams will not only be recognized for their performance on the field, but off the field as well.

Below, each coach provided a recap for their teams!

RSL AZ Southern AZ 2014 Boys Flores
We are excited to take a minute and recognize the hard work and development of the 2014B RSL Southern Flores group. These boys are making BIG strides! This is a great group of players who have

exhibited a positive and hardworking attitude as they learn and grow as a group. This is a mixed group of returning players as well as players new to the program, yet they have already taken big steps in their learning of each other and the principles of how we are trying to play. This positive progress was on display recently at a tournament in which the group played an age group up. The boys managed to go 4-0-0 over the weekend and earned their first bit of silverware as a group! The grit and determination they showed was very impressive as they faced bigger and faster competition and countered with their futbol. It was really fun to watch and they made everyone very proud. It has been an honor to watch this team’s development thus far. There are certainly more big things on the horizon for this special group of boys!

RSL AZ MLS Next 2011 Boys
Congratulations to our 2011 MLS Next Team, who are undefeated in their first 6 matches of the season. This team embodies the RSL AZ mood of “AS ONE” displaying comprehensive performance in each moment of the game with adept handling of defensive duties and an aggressive sparkle in the attack. With youth and desire on their side, the future certainly looks bright for this team who are really enjoying their football.

RSL AZ North EA 11 Boys
The 2011 EA North Boys have come a long way in their development this year. The team has welcomed several new players this year and the boys have worked hard throughout the summer and preseason, which is showing in their play. The boys recently enjoyed their first time with team travel for away games in Utah. They were able to come away with two hard-fought draws against two very good opponents. They also picked up their first league victory before traveling. The team is off to a good start, definitely looking forward to how this group of boys continues to develop this year.

RSL AZ North 16 Boys Midhaan
These boys have shown a level of dedication and heart that’s truly inspiring. Watching them grow not only in their skills but in their bond with one another has been a privilege. They’ve built a brotherhood, lifting each other up both on and off the field. What stands out the most is their tenacity—it's never been about winning in this team, but it’s always been about playing for the love of the game, the beauty of the game, and bringing back the creativity to the game. That mindset has led to a phenomenal start this season, but more importantly, it’s only brought out more of their joyful, resilient attitudes that are the drivers for their success and growth. I’m beyond proud to coach them and can’t wait to see where their hard work and talent takes them next. Congratulations, boys—you’ve earned this!

RSL AZ North 10 Girls Brustad
The 2010 Penaloza (Brustad) girls have proven they can show up even under crazy circumstances. This is a diverse group of girls who've come from all different playing backgrounds, who haven't built years of camaraderie, who are 3 different age groups, most of them playing up 1 to even 2 years that have consistently shown they're here to compete and be a threat. What is special about this team is that they all embrace each other's differences and build each other up through the understanding that we're a team and each person makes a piece of the puzzle.  We've played some fantastic competition so far in the league where we've seen a variety of tactics to compete against. From boot-ball, to brute force, the girls don't back down. It's exciting to watch them play and work through the problems at hand live. They're versatile, resilient, and not a group you want to mess around with!

RSL AZ South DPLO 08 Girls Callaghan
Following on from last year's runners-up spot in the SAAZ Champions Cup, the RSL AZ South DPLO girls added some great talent during the tryout week and the off-season also! The squad is really gelling together strongly and we are looking forward to our upcoming DPLO weekend in CO where we will face three solid Denver area teams. The girls are a fantastic bunch to coach and always display great work ethic and team camaraderie. We are all looking forward to a great rest of the season with these young athletes!

RSL AZ South 08 Boys Jonas
The team has only been together since we started the fall when we merged two teams to increase the player pool and create a better player experience and training environment for developing players. These boys have come a long way since we first started. All players are disciplined and hard-working and give their all to each training session and game.

RSL AZ West Valley 1 1 Boys Chavez
This team has gone through a significant change in the past year, bringing on 13 new players. Finding ourselves succeeding so quickly after incorporating players from multiple different clubs/teams is outstanding. We are proud of the progress and growth of this team and of the character with which they take the field and approach the game, especially with taking on ASL1 and E64 in our first year. There is no shortage of talent, but what is truly special is the shared approach to leadership, the competitive spirit that inspires growth as a team, and the passion the guys play with for this game they love.

RSL AZ West Valley 10 Porter/Bray
Our 2010 RSL West Valley ladies have been a united core for several seasons. We have added some new additions this year, which has really elevated our game! They have given us the much-needed firepower to compete on the APL & E64 RL platforms. Our 19 girls are committed to training hard, delivering results and playing "As One" every time we are on the pitch. This group of young ladies keeps raising the bar year after year and continues their pursuit to become champions. We are extremely proud of them and all the success they have achieved. We believe there are no limits to what this team can accomplish as our journey continues on. We're coming for that #1 spot and solidifying our name at the top.

RSL AZ Southern AZ 15 Girls Patton
The RSL 2015 Girls Patton team is a mix of ages and full of talented/upcoming players. These players work hard, show up to training and jump on the opportunity to do an extra optional technical night without hesitation. They had a heartbreaking loss in the Flagstaff OSI Tournament championship on penalties but have rebounded and continue to focus on becoming leaders on and off the field. Well done from the RSL coaching staff and we look forward to their growth and development this season.

RSL AZ Yuma 08 Boys Patino
The 09 Boys Yuma team is an exceptional group of young men, both on and off the field. For the 2024-2025 season, they are competing in the Elite 64 Regional League (E64RL) and the Arizona Premier League. Their dedication to learning and growing continues to shine through every challenge they face on the field, embodying teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship.

RSL AZ South EA 06/07 Markette
The 06/07EA South team is an outstanding group of players. Over time, many of them have developed solid bonds that strengthen their performance on and off the field. These athletes consistently show what dedication and perseverance can achieve, facing each challenge head-on and finding ways to overcome it. Whether it’s the addition of new players or embracing different tactics, they never stay satisfied and are always hungry to achieve more. This group of players has bright futures on and off the field.

RSL AZ Nogales 08/09 Boys Rivas
These kids have known and played with each other since they were little kids they are completely dedicated to training you around. I started with this group in May and we’ve had three practices a week since then and if we had more space we would go five days a week by their choice. I believe that this team in the next year or two can be one of the top teams in the state.
