Legacy in conjunction with Guthrie Mainstream Health Services and the Arizona Youth Soccer Association (AYSA) is hosting its first annual TOPSoccerRama night on Saturday, August 27 at 6:30PM at Snedigar Field #2 in Chandler.
TOPSoccer is a program that offers the game of soccer to kids with special needs. Last year, Legacy offered a six-week season with more than 30 participating players. Building off that success, Legacy is offering two eight-week seasons in fall 2016 and spring 2017.
To kick off the upcoming fall season, Legacy is hosting its first annual TOPSocerRama event. Participating TOPSoccer players will be able to attend a scrimmage between the Legacy 98 Girls and Legacy 00 Girls Red. Before the match, TOPSoccer players will walk out onto the field, hand-in-hand as seen in World Cup matches. The Chandler Police Department Explorer Honor Guard will present colors with a special guest scheduled to play the National Anthem on his trumpet.
These two Legacy teams were chosen because they are TOPSoccer buddies. These players have attended training through the AYSA to work with kids with special needs. During the game, the TOPSoccer kids are going to sit on the bench with the teams. At half-time, the TOPSoccer kids and buddies will take the field for a mini-game.
TOPSoccerRama is open to all guests and attendees are encouraged to wear red to show these TOPSoccer players what a Legacy soccer match is all about. All Legacy players can wear their red Legacy shirt and blue shorts and parents are encouraged to wear their Legacy red shirt. There is no seating at the field. Please bring chairs and/or blankets to sit on.
Please arrive and be seated around the field by 6:30PM. The teams, referees, and TOPSoccer players will enter the field at 6:45PM, followed by the Honor Guard, then by the National Anthem. The game will start at 7:00PM and will run until 8:30PM.
